In the Eye of the Hurricane

WOW the last 24 hours have been a complete blur at my house. And right now I am in the proverbial eye of the hurricane, gearing up for round two of birthday celebrations!⠀ For anyone who doesn’t know this little fun fact about our family, we may or may not know exactly on which day my oldest daughter’s birthday falls. December 12th is her official day, but I would give anything to know what really happened in that hospital room around 11:59pm on December 11th.⠀ You see, I labored all day on my husband’s birthday, started pushing around 9pm and was unreasonably devastated that my daughter wouldn’t have her own day. Ridiculous I know in the miraculous scope of childbirth; I blame the hallucinogenic combination of hormones, contractions and 3 hours of pushing.⠀ I still don’t remember why it was all that important to me in that moment. But everybody in that hospital room knew it; especially one particularly empathetic nurse, who happened to time stamp the birth for us. ⠀ At 12:03am on December 12th, 2009, I became a mother. Despite the fact that my final push occurred about 4 minutes prior.⠀ Only God knows the absolute truth and either way, it doesn’t matter.⠀ In that moment, all our dreams came true. We welcomed our angel, our long-awaited first born and now affectionately referred to ‘sloppy copy’ into our family.⠀ And BONUS: Birthday celebrations now span 48 hours straight instead of the much more manageable single day, that may rightfully be ours.⠀ Candidly, it’s a pretty wild bender for us these two days; if there is any interest in my chaotic FDOE - back-to-back birthday edition, drop me a note below!
